National University of East Timor Library Project

The East Timorese people overwhelmingly regard education to be the most important priority in the development of their shattered country.

This Web site tells the story of the destruction and rebuilding of tertiary education in East Timor and of efforts to build the University Library, the first library in a new nation.

The Friends of the UNTL Library are a group of concerned people who are supporting reconstruction efforts by focusing on the University Library.

We see the development of the University and its library as essential to the future of East Timor. Its development is one of the most important and far-reaching steps being taken in the reconstruction of East Timor. It will be the source of the nation's future teachers, of its public servants, of its leaders in government and business, and in its technical and agricultural sectors.                                                                                                                                        [read more]
